There’s been up’s, there’s been down’s, there’s been smiles, there’s been frowns but we made it to 2021! One of the main things we are grateful for in the past 12 months is the solidarity of this town and the kindness within. Wanaka- what a place! We are thankful to be part of such an amazing community and sanctuary, with the beautiful lake and mountains to revive us all.
Here’s to a fresh start for all. We hope that in addition to love, peace, and happiness, that this year brings you heaps of parties, pubs, and planes.
Our events and gatherings last year were some of our highlights; from whisky to wine, spirits, and craft breweries, we brought in the specialists, got to know each other, and had a great time developing our knowledge.
Official tastings (last Wednesday of each month) will begin again in March and are always announced first in our newsletter. If you are not already a subscriber- you can sign up here.
2020 had real positive outcome for the team at PWSW. As an essential service, we really banded together in a bubble, pulled off our resourceful renovation in the tasting room and had a lot of fun taking care of our guests and clients when everyone came out of hibernation.

Favourite thing to drink in The Tasting Room:
I am really enjoying craft gin. We are forever expanding our range of options by the glass and are proudly pouring more and more gins from NZ Distilleries.
My current top pick is Rifters gin from just over the hill in Arrowtown.
Sam- Wine Specialist
I love that we have an entire bottle shop filled with beautiful wines to enjoy.
Being able to choose from the shelf allows us to expand our palates, broaden our wine horizons and explore the distinctions between countries, regions & sub regions.
Nadia- Owner
We now have 6 different tasting paddles to choose from. I enjoy the opportunity to go on a journey- either around Central Otago with wine, around Wanaka with craft beer or an adventure around the world with the Whisky. We have also just launched our ‘Taste of Cardrona Distillery’ which features 4 of their delicious liqueurs.
What happens in January at PWSW?
The summer menu is now in full swing, with refreshing cocktails and new options for wine & draught beer by the glass. As always, you can come and select any wine/ bubbles from the bottle shop to savor in the tasting room and, the new Cardrona Distillery tasting paddle is now available which tastes even better when enjoyed with one of our gourmet platters.
All our best for the start of this year & we look forward to seeing you soon.
