Autumnal hues of April at Pembroke Wines

Did you hear that last night a stranger dug up 2kg of golden nuggets last night at Pembroke Park valued for more than $600K- just across the road from PWSW? Now on display at Pembroke Wines.

April always brings happiness and an explosion of creativity to Wanaka beginning with Easter weekend and swiftly followed by the Festival of Colour from the 12th-18th. Just a reminder that we are closed on Friday the 2nd (tomorrow!) and Sunday the 4th so don’t forget to grab the essentials before family & friends arrive, or get in touch with our team now to organise same day delivery today.

It’s a month that is full like grapes in a barrel with Harvest taking place all round the region. We can’t wait to taste the next vintage, but in the meantime…

WINERY OF THE MONTH at Pembroke Wines

We are starting a Winery of the Month to enjoy. Each month we will present a local winery on our special display…

Let us present you with our first choice LAMONT and the Story:

The cornerstone of Lamont Wines is 4.2 hectares of vineyards, at varying levels of elevation, nestled on the rugged slopes of Bendigo, Central Otago. The landscape is expansive with curious rocky outcrops, resolute patches of Kanuka and the looming Southern Alps, there is a tranquillity to this place and a sense of wonder.

The very foundation of Lamont is hands on and with that the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Pinot Noir Rosé are all quite simply made in the vineyard. The wines are grown in a traditional manner, under the expert eye of Craig who has over 25 years on the clock. Fermentations are simple and the purity of the fruit expressed without being masked by oak. There’s no recipe, just strategic decisions made to suit the season and to ensure that Lamont wines tell the story of their variety and Bendigo alone.

From Otago to South America; we celebrate World Malbec Day on the 17th so make sure to plan an Argentinian feast to pair with the dark berried character that Malbec oozes. We will be celebrating with the La Mascota 2018 from Mendoza, Argentina. This elegant complex Malbec was aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels and expresses aromas of black fruit, jam, and vanilla with a subtle touch of liquorice. This wine has a great structure and lingering finish.

We are resuming our special monthly events: BOURBON TASTING

If you would prefer grain over grape, our next tasting event is all about Bourbon and will take place on Wednesday 28th of April from 7-9pm.

We are welcoming charismatic whiskey lover- Kenny, back to introduce you to 6 stand out Bourbons from a mixture of new and old distilleries. The selected spirits hail from both New York and Kentucky and bring an abundance of different notes to the table… One is even ‘sonically matured’ in the cask with the help of bass speakers!

Join Kenny and the team from PWSW for this enlightening tasting to delve deeper into America's favourite spirit.

Tickets are on sale now - $55 per person including nibbles
